Board-Certified Music Therapist

Growing up, Sammi's dad always encouraged her by saying, “share your gifts." When she started learning her first instrument, the piano, she played at her great aunt’s and great grandma’s senior living apartments. Turns out it was a win-win! Their day was brightened and she was encouraged that something she loved had a positive impact on people. Sammi always loves working with kids as well as she has led camps, youth groups, and music lessons growing up and shares how kids teach us all so much and keep fun and wonder in our lives.

Sammi joined the Alliance Music Therapy team in April of 2024. She is excited to learn about the work everyone is doing at the Alliance Music Therapy team, and the impact music is having on people all over Minnesota. Sammi obtained her therapy training from the University of Minnesota and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy and a Minor in Neuroscience. Along with being a Music Therapist in private practice, she has previously worked as a community outreach and communications manager, assistant activities director in senior living, piano teacher and business owner, and counselor.

Sammi plays piano, clarinet, and guitar to name a few, and in the marching band (back at the University of Minnesota) she played the cymbals. Did you see her at the SuperBowl Halftime Show with Justin Timberlake in 2018?! To Sammi, the cymbals have stood out the most to her as being on the drumline really helped her become a better musician and led her to some unforgettable experiences.

Outside of work and to keep her mental health in tip top shape, Sammi likes to take lots of walks, exercise, spend time with friends and family, bake, and her faith in Jesus all keep her going.
Sammi is absolutely fabulous. She has built a really nice rapport with my son. So far, I feel she has done an amazing job at working with my son to become more flexible and having him try new things. She has this very sweet way about her that I think works well to keep my son calm and grounded (and willing to do things that she suggests).
